A new trailer was released for Death Stranding at this year’s Game Awards.

In the trailer (seen below), we get a small glimpse into the world of Death Stranding. Guillermo Del Toro stars in the trailer, as we see him hiding from soldiers in a dystopian city. He is holding a portable incubator with a baby inside similar to the one seen in the game’s reveal trailer. As Del Toro ducks into a sewer, a group of soldiers emerge. One of them removes his helmet, revealing Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen. As the helmet is removed, we see the black, oil-like liquid from the reveal trailer coming from his eye. Unfortunately, no gameplay for the enigmatic title was shown.

Death Stranding was first revealed earlier this year at E3. Back in September, developer Hideo Kojima teased fans about the upcoming title’s release date by stating that the game will release before the year that the film Akira takes place. Akira takes place in 2019, meaning we could see the game release in 2018. Kojima also suggested that there will be a female protagonist. On Twitter, he stated: “Death Stranding’s casting is still under way… Will there be a heroine? Who should play her?”

Death Stranding is currently in development for the PlayStation 4 and PC. Along with Mikkelsen , the game will star The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. Hideo Kojima will be hosting a panel on the upcoming title at the PlayStation Experience this weekend.
