One of the most popular titles to be successfully backed on Kickstarter is a game called Yooka-Laylee. Being developed by Team17 and Playtonic Games, it is a spiritual successor to the cult classic Banjo-Kazooie. Instead of a bear and a bird, we now have a lizard and a bat. After a game like this finishes its Kickstarter campaign, the big question on everyone’s mind is ‘when can we play it?’ Now we know the answer.

Team17 and Playtonic have confirmed that Yooka-Laylee will be released for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on April 11th 2017. Unfortunately, there will no longer be a Wii U version of the game. Gavin Price, Studio Director at Playtonic Games, stated that this was due to “unforeseen technical issues.” Backers who pledged for a Wii U version can transfer over to any other system. This includes a little surprise.

With the Wii U version out of the picture, the developers have shifted their efforts over and have announced that Yooka-Laylee will be released on the Nintendo Switch. A new world called Capital Cashino has also been revealed in a brand new trailer. If you haven’t already, you can preorder Yooka-Laylee for only $39.99. Check out the blog at Playtonic Games for more information as the release becomes ever closer.
