The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences at the 18th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards in Las Vegas has declared BioWare’s Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year in 2014.

The win came as a surprise to some, as many thought Monolith’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor would take home the coveted prize since it won 8 out of the 9 awards it was nominated for, while Inquisition was only nominated for two.

Other notable winners at the Pete Holmes-hosted event at The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas were Destiny, which took home four awards, and Hearthstone, which won two.
