After Konami had taken away Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, the P.T., Norman Reedus, and has killed all hope for Silent Hills, some hope remains that we’ll see a video game made from this new friendship of Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima.

In an interview with IGN, del Toro goes through his experience with video game development and his new relationship with Kojima. He laments over how well everything seemed to be set up prior to Kojima and Konami’s issues. When asked whether he’d go back into video game development, del Toro states:

“Well, you know, I’ve tried twice and I don’t know if I’ll ever come back to the form. In one instance, the company went down, and in the second, the completely unexpected happened, which was Kojima and Konami separating. It’s kind of left me reeling.”

However, del Toro states that if he were to go back into game development, it would be Kojima that brings him back. “Hideo and I have been in touch. And he knows he would be the only guy I would follow to the ends of the earth on anything. I think if anything can be rescued, I will be more than happy.”

With Kojima leaving Konami in the near future, we might see the creation of a joint independent project between del Toro and Kojima. Do you think there might be a del Toro/Kojima production in the works soon? Will it be third time’s the charm for Guillermo del Toro? Sound off in the comments!
