If a recent report from SuperData Research is anything to go by, the video game industry will continue its dominance of the entertainment world for the foreseeable future.

The report estimates that the “global gaming market,” which includes consoles, PC, and mobile, will rake in $74.2 billion in 2015 alone.

Contrary to the rise of the mobile space as an innovative new force in the gaming industry, the majority of these profits will come from the PC and console markets. According to the report, the combined sales of retail game, digital downloads, and PC downloadable content will add up to $30.3 billion; in contrast, the mobile gaming market is only projected to to amass $22.3 billion.

The report also included some financial numbers on social and virtual reality gaming; the former will rake in an estimated $7.9 billion, while the latter will earn approximately $225 million.

Although the mobile gaming scene is more prevalent on a worldwide basis, it seems that the higher cost of retail and downloadable content has provided the PC and console divisions with their edge.
