Mother 1 coming to the west as "Earthbound Beginnings"
More than 10 years after the release of Earthbound, the original Mother is finally coming to the west.During the Nintendo World Championship, Shigesato Itoi - the designer of all three Mother games - announced that Mother 1 will come to the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console as “Earthbound Beginnings”. The title will be available for download starting tonight at 6:00 PST.

For the uninitiated, Mother 1 is the predecessor to Earthbound, or Mother 2 as it is known in Japan. The game released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. While a localized version of the game existed, it was never released in the west.
