Microsoft’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer spent some time yesterday at the E3 PC gamer show to announce that Killer Instinct will be coming to the PC.

Killer Instinct is a fighting game, Season One of the game was released in 2013 for the Xbox One and Season two was released in 2014 for Xbox One. The game is an Xbox One exclusive however Spencer revealed that the game will be ported for Windows 10 and also that cross-play between PC and Xbox One will be possible.

Killer Instinct is actually a free-to-play game with microtransactions and there has been no confirmation yet on this being the case for the PC port just yet but it would be a good move to encourage gamers to upgrade to Windows 10.

A Microsoft employee tweeted a confirmation that Xbox One and Xbox 360 arcade sticks will be compatible with the PC version of Killer Instinct. This also confirms that more PC support for Xbox arcade sticks are coming soon which is great news for fighting games on PC.

Killer Instinct is only coming to Windows 10 meaning that anyone who wants to play it will need to upgrade however this is not the only Xbox One port that was announced like this. Several other games were revealed to be coming to Windows 10 after being announced as Xbox One exclusives earlier this week.

The cross-platform play will allow Killer Instinct players on PC and Xbox One to play together in multiplayer matches which is an added bonus for those with friends on both platforms.

No potential release time was provided  however that Microsoft employee did include that more information is coming soon in his tweet. Windows 10 is due for release July 29th and will be a free upgrade for all Windows users within the first year, hopefully at this date approaches more information about the Killer Instinct port will be revealed.
