Tomasz Gop, executive producer of Lords of the Fallen 2, announced his departure from Polish developer CI Games in a recent Facebook post. Gop mentioned he is currently searching for a new job. CI Games made a statement on the situation as well: “We’re grateful for his input, but we have different visions for further development of the series and Tomasz will not be a part of CI Games’ progress.”

The developer continued explaining, “We want to reach a wider audience for this game. That’s why we’re building a richer story. We’re aware that these aspects could’ve been better in first game, so the story is a big point of the sequel, along with robust fighting system. We want to bring something fresh to RPG games.”

Lords of the Fallen released last fall, with fair success. The game mimicked a lot of the mechanics from the Souls series, which Gop likely wanted to improve on. With a greater focus on story and a hope to include a wider audience, we may see a very different game in the sequel. Especially with the main developer from the original now working with Focus Home Interactive.

Lords of the Fallen 2 is set to enter production this year with Jess Lebow (Guild Wars) writing and Paul Robinson (Killzone 2) as creative director.CI Games is also currently making a Lord of the Fallen mobile game.
