Just Cause 3 looks to turn up the insanity and mayhem to 11, and developer Avalanche is upping the intensity even more with the addition of a wingsuit and improved grapple mechanics. But that doesn’t mean Just Cause 3 isn’t focused on story. In a new video (below), developer Avalanche talks about how they’re expanding on main character Rico’s background, as well as his motivation.

In this video, the first in a series of developer diaries, Avalanche founder Christofer Sundberg explains how the game will show off Rico’s personality, as well as explore his moral flexibility. Rico can be a malicious, destructive and cruel person or can be kind, personable and helpful.

Just Cause 3’s story builds off the events of the previous game, depicting Rico as a saviour to his homeland, one grounded in reality that reflects on his actions from the past.

In addition to the game’s character and story development, Just Cause 3 brings the all new wingsuit, which combined with improved grappling mechanics, allows the player to fly through the massive open world, soaring over mountain tops and gliding through hectic highway tunnels.

Just Cause 3 launches on December 1st for Xbox One, Ps4 and PC.
