Rumor: Homefront: The Revolution At Gamescom

It appears that Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios will be ready to make a public showing of Homefront: The Revolution following the announcement of its delay earlier this year.

In a series of strategic moves that took place after their acquisition of the IP from Crytek in 2014, new development companies were formed as old ones shut their doors, shuffling employees around in the process. Through it all, the game was staying afloat and in the public eye until the announcement of its delay in March, which had some believing the Homefront IP was in turmoil.

““Dambuster Studios are an extraordinarily talented group,”” said Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Deep Silver, in a statement released March of this year. “”We are giving the team every opportunity to turn Homefront: The Revolution into a best-selling title, and have set a 2016 release date to provide them the time they need to achieve this. You can expect to hear more about the game later this year.””

All was quiet on the homefront until @shinobi602, a reliable gaming “insider”, hinted in a tweet that “later this year” may actually be at Gamescom this coming August (read the responses to get the full picture):

@shinobi602 has been described as “just a good guy with a lot of friends in the industry and shares information when he is able to.” He must have friends in all the right places because he has been correct about quite a bit in the past, as can be seen in this list compiled over at OnlySP.com by Nick Calandra.

If everything pans out, he may have another thing to add to that list.

Gamescom 2015 takes place August 6-9, 2015 in Cologne, Germany. Homefront: The Revolution is still scheduled for release in 2016.
