EA Sports drops Patrick Kane from NHL 16 cover

EA Sports has decided to change the cover photo of NHL 16 amid a police investigation involving Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane. The cover was supposed to depict teammates, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane raising the Stanley Cup over their heads after the Blackhawks won their third Stanley Cup in six years. The cover will now depict Toews on his own.A couple of weekends ago Patrick Kane was accused of sexual assault. The police investigation is ongoing and Kane has not been charged as of yet. This is not the first time the former first overall pick has had a run in with the law. Back in 2009 Kane pleaded guilty to a non-criminal charge of disorderly conduct after a cab driver accused him of assault.

Kane will no longer be taking part in marketing events for NHL 16, nor will he be a spokesperson. Kane stood as the cover star by himself for NHL 10. NHL 16 will be available on September 15th, 2015 and will be released on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
