Written by J.K. Rowling, the events take place about 70 years before the events of Harry Potter and follow the journey of Newt Scamander, the author of the Hogwarts textbook “Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them.” The movie will be almost entirely set in New York as Scamander sets off on an adventure to write his book. Many other characters will be revealed as the story unfolds, but to know the complete story, we’ll just have to wait until November 18, 2016 for the film’s release in theaters.
Warner Bros. talked game adaptations for the film just as they have done previously with Electronic Arts on all of their Harry Potter video games. Nothing has been set in stone, although this would be a step forward for the partnership seeing as the last game that they made together, Harry Potter for Kinect, was released in 2012 and was not very popular. Going back to the standard Harry Potter styled RPG would probably prove fruitful for both Warner Bros. and Electronic Arts. Although it doesn’t seem like the franchise made a bad move by setting the movies so far apart, it could mean a change in sales for video games; more likely bad than good.
