Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the latest installment to the Metal Gear Solid series, and has already had a successful couple of days since its release on September 1st.

In the Forward Operating Base online mode, there aren’t many options on how to unlock the in-game currency Mother Base Coins, leaving you with three options: playing the game, paying real dollar or – in a way that is strangely akin to a mobile game – earn MB Coins as daily log in bonuses.

The game mode is optional, so don’t worry if you’re not feeling the mobile-esque vibe. It works just like the single player Mother Base system, where you build up your fortress to keep bringing in resources and things to help you in the campaign.

Once you get to a certain point in the game, Konami informs you that you will start receiving rewards. Mother Base Coins can be used to expand your offshore fortress; although the first Forward Operating Base is given to the player for free, you’re looking at about a grand of MB Coins if you want to build another one.

It’s just as well you don’t need to apply for planning permission, too.

There’s also the whole microtransactions fiasco (something that I personally hate in games, especially big ones) and it is unclear how they will work in Metal Gear Online. We’ll see how that goes when it comes out in October on consoles and next year on PC.

Gamespot uploaded the screenshot you can see below, which shows the full week one schedule for coins, bonuses and rewards.
