Homeworld gets a new prequel RTS

The Homeworld series has been a stand out in the RTS genre for a long, long time and it's finally adding another title the series. Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak has been announced recently by Gearbox and Blackbird and will serve as a prequel to the original series. This time, however, it won't be set in space, instead the combat will take place on the ground.The game will tell the story of Rachel S'jet, the protagonist of Homeworld 1 and 2, and the investigation of an anomaly in the Desert of Kharak. Using ground based and air vehicles the combat will take place across the desert in a campaign as well as an online multiplayer option.

Right now you can pick up the first two Homeworld titles remastered on Steam but if you pre order Deserts of Kharak now you’ll get the other two titles for free. Alternatively if you already own the first two games you’ll get a discount off the new one.

Gearbox acquired the franchise from THQ in 2013 and the new title is set for release on PC via Steam on January 20th 2016. Check out the trailer here:
