Sony is holding a PlayStation VR event next month

With Oculus Rift and Vive VR both having thrown their hats in the ring, it looks like its about time PlayStation VR did the same. Sony has sent out invitations to a private press event at this year’s Game’s Developer’s Conference. The PlayStation VR is the third of the three major players in the VR space, and the only to not yet announce a price point and release date. Shipping for $600, consumer version of the Oculus Rift will land March 28th. Going for $800, Vive VR was just recently announced for an April release date. Hopefully we will get and price and a date for PlayStation VR at the press event.

If we do, it would be a nice bit of symmetry as it was at GDC that the Sony VR headset was first revealed, back in 2014.

Earlier this month, GameStop’s CEO claimed the headset was not coming out until the fall, despite Sony’s insistence it will release in the first half of the year.

The event is scheduled for March 15th at 2pm PST. Check back here on Gamespresso for all the details. What price would be low enough for you to take the leap and pick up Sony’s headset? Or are you excited enough the price might not even matter? Let us know in the comments.
