Another week, and another round of Deals with Gold on Xbox consoles. This week’s deals are headlined by a couple of last year’s cult favorite games.

Car combat fueled Mad Max is on sale for 40% off, while episodic, time-travel, teen coming-of-age story Life is Strange is discounted for 50% off. Though neither pulled in the highest of review scores, both games found a devoted audience who enjoyed their eccentricities.

Our review for Mad Max found it to be “a fun, if straightforward, open-world game that not only manages to offer an interesting world to explore, but fun and exciting things to do in it.” One of our editors was even so addicted to the game’s wastelandish open-world it made him have to sit down and consider why.

Meanwhile, our review of Life is Strange found flaws with the angst-riddled teen drama of the story, but applauded the game’s uniqueness and sense of style. The time-travel mechanic, allowing you too take back decisions, helped the game stand out from other narrative adventure titles. “Overall, the [time-travel] ability, when used to essentially trick people with your miraculously keen knowledge about them and their belongings, brought out a unique mix of guilt and satisfaction I don’t think I’ve ever felt with another game.”

As always, Deals with Gold require a Xbox Live Gold membership.
