Microsoft has broken the news that the Xbox One will not be receiving TV DVR support in any future update.

“After careful consideration, we’ve decided to put development of DVR for Over-the-Air TV on hold to focus our attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming experiences across Xbox One and Windows 10,” a Microsoft spokesperson revealed to The Verge. “We’re always listening to fan feedback and we look forward to bringing more requested experiences on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Xbox Live this year.”

Microsoft first unveiled plans to add TV DVR to their system back in August. They had announced that the feature would release sometime in 2016. The feature would have allowed Xbox One users to schedule recording on the go, and stream or download shows to mobile devices and other Windows 10 PCs. The feature would have been limited to free-to-air TV. Microsoft had released digital TV tuners in the US and Europe that would have supported the feature.

While there may not be a TV DVR feature coming to the Xbox One, we may see a new version of the console at E3 next week. Codenamed the “Scorpio,” this version of the console will supposedly be four times more powerful than the original.
