Blizzard’s Roadhog nerf is on the way to Overwatch

On the Overwatch forums, Principal Designer Geoff Goodman has provided a bit of an outline for how Roadhog's nerf will work, and says we can expect it possibly later this week on the pubic test realm, specifically "ASAP"."Firstly, the hook victim will now move in to the position directly in front of Roadhog, rather than just a straight line towards him. There is a cap on how far 'to the side' you can be pulled, so you can't just hook someone, spin 180, and dump someone off a cliff."

“Firstly, the hook victim will now move in to the position directly in front of Roadhog, rather than just a straight line towards him. There is a cap on how far ‘to the side’ you can be pulled, so you can’t just hook someone, spin 180, and dump someone off a cliff.”

Secondly, the line-of-sight check to see if a hook should connect or not is now checked from Roadhog’s position, instead of the hook’s position.”

Lastly, there is a new persistent line-of-sight check back to Roadhog once the hook has landed. If this check fails, the hook breaks off and returns to Roadhog.”

All of this means, basically, is that Roadhog’s hook will feel more consistent in when it works, won’t hook targets the player cannot see, and if you’re dashing or dodging or falling in any way, the hook should break and give you a couple extra seconds of freedom.

Goodman says the changes may make Roadhog a weaker hero, so they’ll watch the current changes on the PTR and buff in the right places.
