Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s 3.5 patch, more excitedly called The Far Edge of Fate is set to release January 17th, and the preview trailer for it has finally been released.

The 8 minute trailer shows off much of the new interesting content coming to Eorzea, including Containment Bay Z1T9, the newest Trial coming to the game where players must slay the last pillar of the Warring Triad, Zurvan, the Demon, who is breaking free from his prison.

The patch also includes new Beast Tribe quests, new glamours for Summoner pets, a hard mode for Sohm Al, and the final 24-player raid of Heavensward, Dun Scaith, a gothic demon paradise island.

3.5 will also bring some more generic game changes, “Patch 3.5 also brings improvements to the Party Finder so that players from other worlds on the same data center can view, recruit and join parties. PvP will also receive updates to both Frontline and Duel modes, along with a new map coming to The Feast.  After listening to community feedback, players will be able to use the Duty Finder while their chocobo is at their side.”

It also looks like 3.5 will be a great pre-Stormblood patch, as players will be scaling Baelsar’s Wall, opening up the world to Garlean Empire-controlled territories.

The Far Edge of Fate releases January 17th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC.
