Don't expect discounts for the PS4 just yet

Both the PS4 and Xbox One launched in November of 2013 around the world. Even though they were released around the same time, the prices are not the same. The Xbox One had the initial asking fee of 500 USD while the PS4 was 400 USD. Ever since then, Microsoft has lowered the price to 400 USD and then they took it down to 350 USD and Sony has not budged with their price at all.Don't get your hopes up, the Sony UK boss Fergal Gara says that his team is thrilled that the PS4 has the same price from when it launched two years ago. Gara also states that going into price wars with Microsoft can be very dangerous.

Don’t get your hopes up, the Sony UK boss Fergal Gara says that his team is thrilled that the PS4 has the same price from when it launched two years ago. Gara also states that going into price wars with Microsoft can be very dangerous.

Any price war in any sector in any market can be dangerous, if there is a race to zero, who wins from that? We are proud that we managed to launch at a very competitive price, and demand has held up very strongly for PS4. Therefore, our RRP on day one is our RRP today. Yes, there are promotions that offer consumers better value from time-to-time, but it’s great that we managed to start at such a great price and it has held well.”

With Sony having a lead on the Xbox One and its sales figures are still on par with Microsoft’s lower-priced console, I highly doubt that will hear about any price cuts at E3 2015.
