Infinite Crisis is to halt development and close all servers on August 14th despite only releasing March 26th of this year, a post on the official website confirms.

Turbine have been creating their DC Comics-themed MOBA alongside players in open beta since it released, and had teased  fresh ‘Champions’ such as Zod and Deathstroke as future content only a month ago, so the news seems to come as a shock.

This highlights a worrying trend in failing MOBAs following EA’s Dawngate only 8 months prior. Having failed to really innovate on the already massively competitive genre, Infinite Crisis relied too much on its own theme to really carve a place alongside industry legends DOTA 2 and League of Legends.

As a response to its short life span, players who invested in either Starter or Elite packs (unlocking extra characters for play in-game) can request refunds via Steam, and the game will continue until it closes ‘completely free.’
