On July 13th, 2015, game studio Creative Assembly released yet another preview for their upcoming game, Total War: Warhammer. While traditionally history-based, the Total War team is bringing a new feel to the series by combining it with Warhammer’s fantasy universe. The game will feature giant creatures, magic, demons, and epic battles between several playable factions such as Humans, Orks, Globlins, Dwarves, and Vampires.

In their latest video preview, “Introducing Demigryphs,” Creative Assembly unveils one of the many creatures that will appear in the game: the demigryph. Given their enormous size and ornate heavy armor , the demigryph will most likely be used as a cavalry shock unit to reflect their tabletop counterparts.

Also demonstrated in the video is just how dedicated the Total War team is in bringing the Warhammer universe to life. The demigryph is shown going through a number of fantastic animations, which showcases the creature’s deadly nature, and gives us the impression that this creature is ready to rip apart anything that gets in its way. The textures themselves are surprisingly detailed for a strategy game of this scale too. Check out the video below to see the stunning unit for yourself.

While the demigryph is just a glimpse of what we can expect from Total War: Warhammer, it’s exciting to see just how much detail is going into the game. The Warhammer universe is full of deadly beasts so it is exciting to see what other kinds of creatures and monsters will make an appearance as well.
