Guillermo Del Toro says he won't be joining our ranks

"if I join another video game, World War III will start."

“if I join another video game, World War III will start.”

It’s sad to hear from Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim) that he won’t be working with anymore video game companies. “I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something.” says Guillermo Del Toro.

Although, I tend to disagree that it’s in any way his fault that a video game company falls through, I find it purely a coincident that any of his projects couldn’t come to life. Whatever held back Silent Hills from becoming a reality is still a stick in my side that will hurt until I get an explanation. If it’s simply because Guillermo Del Toro does not want to make any video games, then I have no problem.

That being said, Mr. Del Toro stated back in July that he is still friends with Hideo Kojima and it might be possible that a project could be coming out between the two, but it won’t be Silent Hills (darn). Del Toro has also made it clear that if a developer would want to make a video game from one of his many franchises then he would be open to that. Let’s see what Guillermo has to offer within the next few years, because as far as I’m concerned, gamers aren’t going anywhere and the prospect of a video game with the input of the legendary horror/sci-fi director keeps them reeled in.
