Xbox Live Indie Games are to be shut down

It seems that Microsoft has finally admitted defeat regarding the program as it opts instead to focus more on ID@Xbox on Xbox One. A wise move in my books. Microsoft is no longer accepting subscriptions or membership renewals for the service as it is undergoing its “sunsetting process”. However, you can still play any games you previously bought.

“Of course, players will still be able to re-download games they own and continue to play games they own.”

“XBLIG is where many great developers got their start, and “diversity” doesn’t even begin to describe the incredible variety of games that creators made on XBLIG. So seeing the end come into view is definitely bittersweet,” said Chris Charla, head of the ID@Xbox program.”

So there you go, farewell to all those games that showed so little promise but took up valuable space at the bottom of page 94 in your favorite video game magazine.
