The redesign is to help centralize the weight distribution and make the design a lot more comfortable than the previous Vive incarnation.

One of the ways in which the HTC Vive is following up this premise of ‘comfortable use’ is its inclusion of interchangeable foam inserts that allow glasses wearers to comfortable use the VR headgear. This has been a huge problem since the inception of these sorts of headgear. By opening up to its consumer base and being glasses-friendly is a strong move by HTC and will definitely be a point of consideration for people looking into buying into their own VR set.

2016 has been heralded as the ‘Year of VR’ due to major influx of official releases of the various VR hardware including the Oculus’ Rift, Sony’s Playstation VR and HTC Vive. The Second Vive kit will be available this month with the official consumer release in April 2016.
