id Software co-founders John Romero and Adrian Carmack have released a video teasing a brand new shooter. The video teases that they will release details next week.

Romero and Carmack, who left id in 1996 and 2005, respectively, announced their return to first-person shooters with a teaser video reminiscent of the final scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The video ends telling gamers that they can expect an announcement on April 25th.

The video also points towards Night Work Games’ website, which states that “a new first-person shooter is being built at Night Work Games LTD.”

Game designer Brenda Romero, who works as an independent developer at Romero Games, tweeted “John Romero and Adrian Carmack return to FPS,” showing that Romero’s appearance in the video is more than a cameo. Romero has not focused on first-person shooters since he left studio Ion Storm, which developed Daikatana. However, he did revisit the original Doom earlier this year. Romero had released a new level for the shooter this past January.
