Dead Island 2 removed from Steam

The sequel to the popular Dead Island franchise, Dead Island 2, has been completely pulled from the Steam Store. This has resurrected rumors amongst fans that the still unreleased game has been canceled.Originally noticed by NeoGaf user Death Sparks, the Dead Island 2 store page and tags have been removed from the digital distribution platform.  This change comes after the game switched development teams in July of 2015. Originally being developed at Yager, development switched hands to Sumo Digital, the studio responsible for Little Big Planet and Disney Infinity, back in March. Timo Ullman, managing director of Yager, stated the change took place because "Yager and Deep Silver's respective visions of the project fell out of alignment".

While this removal has revived the fear of cancellation, another delay is also entirely possible.

Revealed at E3 2014 and originally slated for a Spring 2015 launch, Dead Island 2 has been a highly anticipated title for many. The game is set to continue the popular zombie-slaying franchise across many locations in California. Fans of the franchise need not worry too much, though. The remastered versions of both Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide launched today on Ps4, PC, and Xbox One.
