Skyrim and Fallout 4 mods finally coming to PlayStation 4

Mod support for Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 is coming to the PlayStation 4 versions. Skyrim will support the feature when it launches October 28th with Fallout 4 receiving it in a future update.In a blog post, Bethesda announced that mods on PlayStation 4 would allow users to "modify and create your own content by using our Creation Kit" available at their website. Those with a Bethesda.net account will be able to browse and try out mods from within the game.

In a blog post, Bethesda announced that mods on PlayStation 4 would allow users to “modify and create your own content by using our Creation Kit” available at their website. Those with a Bethesda.net account will be able to browse and try out mods from within the game.

The biggest change is that users can only use assets included in the game, and cannot upload their own external assets. That means Macho Man Randy Savage dragons and Master Chief companions that were possible in the PC version are not allowed here. Bethesda previously said in September that Sony would not “approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition,” though mod support for Fallout 4 has been delayed before due to file size constraints and other problems.

Additionally, Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 will take advantage of the PlayStation 4 Pro with 4k support. Skyrim will render at “native 4k” when the PlayStation 4 Pro launches November 10th, while Fallout 4 will be updated at a later date with 4k support along with “enhanced lighting and graphics features.”
