April 23 was revealed to be a big day for Mario Kart 8.

Previously announced Animal Crossing downloadable content for the game will be released that day, bringing three new playable characters to the game: Villager, Isabelle, and Dry Bowser. The DLC was moved up after being originally scheduled to release in May.

8 new courses are coming in the DLC, with tracks featuring seasons that change with each time you play them.

That same day, a free update for the game will be released that will add a 200cc mode to the game, increasing the speed of the tracks. Iwata stressed that players will have to utilize strong brake skills.

Every course will be available in 200cc after the update, which is 50cc than the series previous highest mode of 150cc.
