Darkest Dungeon is one of the most beautiful and sullen games I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The characters are interesting, the art style is unique, and the gameplay has me constantly on edge worrying about what is going to happen next. That is why I’m excited to tell you that Red Hook Studios just recently released their first big content patch for the game!
This new content update will feature three new gruesome bosses to cause your party members even more stress, new town buildings, new items, the ability for your party members to become so stressed that they die from a fear induced heart attack, and the addition of two new character to add to your ragtag party. The two new party members are the Arbelest, a crossbow wielding maiden and the tanky Man-At-Arms. The Arbelest seems to be rather flexible sporting support skills and sniping power which allow her to be placed either in the very back or the middle of the party. The Man-At-Arms is a true protector whose abilities allow him to take damage for other party members and punish any beast who is too aggressive.
The update as a whole is exciting and it’s good to see the studio putting out new content unlike a lot of early access titles that have come out recently. Developers like Red Hook Studios who just keep adding content to their game really make it worthwhile to invest into games early access.
