It was confirmed today on the Playstation official blog by a Naughty Dog official that the Left Behind DLC will be available as a standalone game in the playstation store later this month. The add-on version of the DLC will be receiving a price drop on the standalone’s release day for the PS3. The standalone version of Left Behind is due for release on May 12th in both PS3 and PS4 stores.

The Last of Us was originally released in 2013 for the PS3 and was later re-released on the PS4 in 2014. Developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us had an amazingly overwhelming positive reception by both reviewers and by players; The Last of Us is possibly the most awarded game of all time sporting a massive 240 nominations and rewards for almost all components of the game including sound, graphics, innovation, story and game of the year.

Left Behind was released as DLC in 2014 for both the PS3 and PS4; like the base game it too had an immensely positive reception. The DLC also received many nominations and awards including a 2014 game of the year award from Gamespot.

For those who are unfamiliar with the series Left Behind the standalone game will be a great way to introduce you to the dark world it portrays and to the story of the base game; it will be of course less expensive that the base game considering it’s no where near the same length however for those who are unsure about purchasing the game this could be a good entry point.

The standalone version will also include a two hour trial of The Last of Us Factions multiplayer mode and will let buyers upgrade to the full game if they wish.

Have you played Left Behind before as a DLC? Do you think it’s worth buying the standalone version of it? Let us know in the comments below!
