Naughty Dog is hard at work on Uncharted 4, but is another one of their beloved franchises still in focus?

Unfortunately not at the moment, according to game director Bruce Straley. While Uncharted 4 is headed to PlayStation 4 next year, Nathan Drake will be the only character from Naughty Dog’s history that will be in the game. Straley was recently asked at E3 by The AV Club which retro character he would embed into one of his games if he could.

“Well, there’s actually been a conversation about if it were at all possible—which it’s not, let me emphasize—but we wanted to put a Crash Bandicoot game inside. Not gonna happen, though. Don’t worry,” Straley said.

While fans have been panning for Crash Bandicoot to return in some form, Straley reiterates that it may no longer be up to Sony as to where the marsupial ends up next.

“Yeah. It’s not our title. Sony doesn’t own it, so we don’t have control.”

Crash Bandicoot has not appeared from Naughty Dog since Crash Team Racing in 1999, and despite recently showing up in an image on the internet, he wasn’t seen at E3 either.

What Naughty Dog did show was an epic Uncharted 4 demo! Catch it here and read up on what Sony did blow our minds with during E3.
