A team of 25 builders spent close to a year meticulously recreating The Shire from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings franchise in Minecraft, and the results are some of the most stunning the open-ended sandbox has seen yet.

The Imgur gallery shows off the impressive Shire worldmap, which is created on a 1:58 scale. It is “arguably one of the most detailed and well-researched maps ever made in the game,” reads a line from the description, and we definitely agree.

Apart from the iconic Hobbiton and Bag-End, the builders created block versions of Bywater Lane, Sackville, Woodhall, Stock, Whitewell, Farmer Maggot’s farmyard, Greenfields, and many more locations.

“As well as researching old farming techniques, we make sure that we adhere to geological and botanical realism in our terrain,” the builders explained. “As one of our admins is a professional geologist, we are able to put a great deal of expertise into it.”
