PlayStation 4 players will be able to participate in Battleborn’s open beta before other platform owners.

At Sony’s Paris Games Week conference, it was announced that the upcoming open beta for Battleborn will begin on the PlayStation 4 first. An official start-date was not announced, though it will start in “early 2016.” Xbox One and PC owners will be able to jump in at a later time.

Some players will be able to test out Battleborn as early as October 29th, when the game’s closed technical test begins on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It will include the game’s Meltdown mode and a story mission entitled The Algorithm. 15 of Battleborn’s 25 characters will be playable. You can go here to register for a chance to play.

Three game modes for Battleborn were also announced. The three modes were outlined by Gearbox on the PlayStation Blog:

  • Capture: It’s classic capture-and-control showdown between two teams of heroes. But more badass. Because we said so.
  • Meltdown: Each team has to march waves of their minions to their death into the chompers at the ends of lanes on the map. Sounds like fun, right? Think of it like a homicidal robotic sport. You score points for every minion who throws themselves into the incinerator and the team with the most scrap metal, wins.
  • Incursion: Playing Incursion, teams of heroes must defend their base from waves of AI-controlled minions. Meanwhile, you’re working together alongside your own minions to lead them to your opponent’s base. Then destroy it.

Battleborn will release on February 9, 2016. The game will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
