Defiance the popular television show has been canceled; however, the video game will live on.

Defiance the television show had 3 seasons. Variety informs, “Its Aug. 28 finale averaged a 0.51 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.925 million viewers overall in Nielsen’s “live plus-3” estimates.” The television show and video game premiered in 2013, and both stories were supposed to affected each other.

The video game was originally a paid title, but later became free to play. The video game is still available on PC, PS3, Xbox 360. According to Polygon, Trion Worlds CEO Scott Hartsman stated, “We’ve had a great time working closely with the team of stellar writers, designers, producers, and actors on the Defiance TV show.” Scott continues to say, “Like many of you, we’ve all enjoyed the stories they told week in and week out. Let’s treat this as a fond farewell, in celebration of a successful three year run of a show that broke a lot of new ground and brought an incredible quality experience to its viewers.”

The game seems to be popular enough to survive; even though, its television show has been canceled.  GameSpot states Trion “said it would consider Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions once their install base was big enough.”
