Overkill Software has released an update to the PC version of their shooter Payday 2. Payday 2 will now include micro-transactions to the game. They will allow for random item drops that will impact the gameplay in multiplayer.

With the new update you will be able to unlock safes in the level, once you purchase the special drill for $2.50. The safe will reward you with a random weapon skin that will give your weapon a new ability. The update is meant to, “Opens up a brand new way of allowing you to personalize your weapons with skins, mods and more.”

“Each safe drops a slick weapon skin, and each skin may have special mods and a stat boost associated with it. Sometimes, very rarely, a safe may even contain a precious Legendary skin.” It is touch to say if this will hurt the balance of multiplayer and turn this into a play-to-win game.

Payday 2 was originally released on August 13, 2013 for the PC. Payday 2: Crimewave Edition was released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 16. No news on if and when the update will come to consoles. Stay tuned to Gamespresso for more information.
