PlayStation and Sony had a lot to be thankful for this year when it comes to Black Friday sales.

Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House revealed in a new interview that this year’s Black Friday was the biggest ever for PlayStation.

“We’ve just seen the most successful Black Friday in the company’s history,” he told Financial Times. “Rumors of the demise of the console have been greatly exaggerated.”

“We are now trying to benchmark against the success of the PlayStation 2–or exceed it if possible.”

Financial Times reports that after three years, the PS2 had sold 51 million units. In comparison, two years into the PS4’s lifecycle, Sony’s latest console has sold just over 30 million units. The story went on to say that House was “hesitant to predict” that the PS4 would top the PS2’s lifetime sales of 155 million, given “the cadence at which people expect innovation” was speeding up.
