In a statement given to GameSpot, Mike Nichols of Microsoft said December 2015 was the best performing month recorded in terms of systems sold in the United States.

“The total number of hours spent gaming on Xbox One worldwide nearly doubled compared to December 2014 and Xbox One exclusive game sales in the U.S. between July and December 2015 were up 61 percent compared to the same period in 2014.” Nichols said. Some of the Xbox exclusives included Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Rare Replay and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

No specific sales statistics were shared regarding Xbox One systems or games, nor does Microsoft plan to disclose these in the future.

In addition to exceptional sales figures, the Xbox Store’s Countdown sale event also broke records, with 69% year-over-year revenue growth compared to 2014’s sale period.

“With an incredible catalog of first-party and third-party games on Xbox One and available through Xbox One Backward Compatibility, 2015 was a tremendous year for gamers, and we’re looking forward to making 2016 an even better one.” Nichols said.
