Rare, the developers of Donkey Kong Country and the Banjo-Kazooie series, is making a multiplayer pirate game. It is being called Sea of Thieves and there is very little information on it so far. An interview with some who have played it, however, might give us some clues.

In an interview with IGN, Microsoft’s Alan Greenberg discussed playing an early protoype of Rare’s latest work with VP Kudo Tsunoda and Europe Manager Hanno Lemke, and how the two were very different experiences. First, with Tsunoda he said, “”Kudo just jumps in the water and jumps onto another ship. He goes AWOL and then you don’t see him for a while and then he comes back around and starts blasting cannons at their ship.” Almost like a kid in a candy store, he just wanted to look around and have some fun. Things were a bit different with Lemke. “”I get on the ship and I run around and start hitting him with a fish,” Greenberg stated. “And he’s like, ‘What are you doing? There’s water down below. We’ve got to raise the anchor…’ So he starts putting me to work.”

Rare’s Sea of Thieves may have a long way to go, but now we can picture the pirate adventures we will soon face, whether it be with a fun-filled friend, or someone looking to get down to business. The title is speculated to release this year on Xbox One and PC.
