Just days after we learned a load of story details about Gears of War 4, Coalition has announced when players will first be able to get their hands on the new game.

Kicking things off on April 18, an Early Access Beta runs through April 24. Then, starting the next day and running through May 1, the Open Beta will allow anyone with an Xbox Live Gold Membership to jump into the action. Both beta’s are exclusive to Xbox One.

To qualify for the early access period all you have to do is have played Gears of War Ultimate Edition. If you haven’t already though, the cut-off to be eligible is April 11. Just log on to Xbox Live and play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 by 11PM PDT.

It was recently revealed that Gears of War 4 takes place 25 years after the third installment, but is still set on Sera. 4-player co-op sadly, will not be returning to the game. Instead, the entire game is available through 2-player co-op, the first player stepping into the shoes of the new protagonist, JD, the son of Marcus Fenix, and the second player controlling one of two other characters, Kait or Dell.

Will you be trying out the Gears of War 4 Beta? Let us know in the comments.
