Battlefield 1 currently has an issue with locked squads, but according to the developers there is a fix being worked on.

As of right now, when you join a friend’s match in Battlefield 1, the game puts you into a locked squad with the friend(s) that you joined. What this means is that anyone who is not a friend of someone in the squad is unable to join that squad; hence, the squad is locked. Unfortunately, what this results in is matches filled with squads of only two people, because the game assumes that you only want to play with your friend and no one else. This ends up being very harmful for a game that is better with teamwork, and leaves those not in a squad unable to join one if they are all locked.

Players have taken to the game’s subreddit to bring up the issue, and were met with a response from someone at DICE who informed them that a fix is being worked on:

“Heya, thanks for the feedback, we are aware of this issue and working on a potential fix.”

No information was given on when the fix will be ready.

Battlefield 1 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. You can read our review here.
