It’s been announced that Pokemon GO is updating to start to include Johto Region Pokemon, including Togepi and Pichu, and other unannounced Pokemon- including a sweet limited edition Pikachu.

“Professor Willow has discovered Togepi and Pichu hatching from Eggs! Starting later today, Trainers will have the opportunity to hatch these and several other Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Johto Region in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games. These are the first of more Pokémon coming to Pokémon GO over the next few months.”

The update introduces the Johto Pokes through egg hatching, so lots of walking will be necessary to discover exactly what they’ve put in the game. Niantic urges players to once again share their screenshots of new Pokemon on the hashtag #PokemonGO on Twitter.

With Johto Region Pokemon, we also get the start of a Christmas event. From now until December 29th, players will have the chance to find a limited edition Santa-Hat-wearing Pikachu in the wild. “These Pikachu will be wearing a festive hat to celebrate the season! Use the Pokémon GO AR camera when you encounter them in the wild to take their picture and share it with us using #HolidayPikachu.”

The Johto Holiday patch is now live for Android and iOS devices.
