Brawlhalla developer, Blue Mammoth Games, has announced the second annual Brawlhalla World Championship. Blue Mammoth’s eSports director, David Kisich, says that this year’s tournament circuit will be bigger than the previous year and also that “multiple Brawlhalla tournaments globally, both online and offline, will be part of the Brawlhalla Circuit. Competitors play in Brawlhalla Circuit events, earn points, and the top players from every region will earn invites to BCX 2017.”

A 2D fighting game, Brawlhalla is technically still in Early Access, but has already won over a suprising amount of fans and critics with its Super Smash style fights and gorgeous art-style. With the return of the World Championship, we will see changes made to how the worldwide tournament series is run as well as how players can qualify for the events. Unlike last year, this year’s world championship will consist of a 32 player invitational. These players will be selected based on their performance throughout the year during the tournament series.

Even though the format in which players can qualify for this event has changed, the series’ open tournament format is still intact. Included in these spots, Blue Mammoth Games has reserved wild card spots for the the top three players at the BCX Open. Players will also be able to qualify via the Online Winter Championships, and tournaments at both CEO Dreamland, and Combo Breaker. This open tournament format gives players who are not well know in the community a chance to show off their talent and earn a shot at this year’s prize pool of over $100,000.
