Today during it’s Digital Event, Nintendo announced when the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will be available in North American and Europe. These dates are September 25th and October 2nd, respectively.

This game was announced in April, and it focuses on decorating and designing the homes. Villagers will request a specific home and the player will have to design it around their tastes.

Animal Crossing: Happy Hope Designer will also be the first game to support card based amiibos. The way this works is similar to the E-Reader that the Game Boy Advance had back in 2002. You scan an Animal Crossing amiibo card, and then create a home for the villager on the card. After creating this home, you can scan different cards to invite animals to see the house, take photos, and interact with each other.

One of my favorite parts of the Animal Crossing (as well as Sims, and other games of the same style) would have to be building houses. I’m a nut for this kind of stuff, so this game is right up my alley and sounds like a lot of fun. The E-Reader styled amiibos are interesting as well. Maybe it’s my age showing, but it sounds highly nostalgic to swipe a card through a Nintendo handheld.
