Since Disney’s acquisition of the Star Wars franchise, everyone’s been waiting to see which of their favorite characters get inserted into Disney’s latest iteration of Infinity, 3.0. According do Polygon, we can finally confirm that Jar Jar Binks will be in Disney Infinity 3.0, but not as a character to play as. Whether this means we get another way to beat him up or just listen to him jabber on is yet to be seen.

“I remember when we saw how high he was on the character chart, I was like, ‘This has got to be because people hate him, right?'” stated John Vignocchi, vice president of production for Disney Interactive. “I was totally wrong.” When doing the market research for the audience that Disney 3.0 was selling to, Vignocchi and the rest of his team realized that 6-12 year old children mainly only watched the prequel films, for better or ill. This meant that characters like Luke, Han Solo, and Lando aren’t as appealing as Mace Windu, Clone Troopers, and our favorite Gungan, Jar Jar.

“So when we were deciding how much Star Wars should we bring into Infinity, we were like, ‘Please, let’s not only focus on the classic trilogy; we need to bring the Phantom Menace as well, as well as Star Wars Rebels.” Vignocchi continued to say. “Our audience is 6- to 12-year-olds and this was the property that was most relevant to them.”

While veterans of the Star Wars series might be a little disappointed at this, it does make sense for them to focus on the prequels. Are you excited for Disney Infinity 3.0? Let us know in the comments!
