EA and DICE confirmed today that their upcoming game, Star Wars Battlefront, will not feature squad or class-based action. Apparently, they are trying to move away from the Battlefield formula and make something unique. Instead of classes, players will be able to freely choose their load out gear, unlocking new items as they progress in the game.

“We’re not taking into account what we’ve done before, because I think that would be disrespectful to the fans, and to what we’re trying to achieve here,” said Executive Producer Patrick Bach. “A lot of the things you saw in the game have nothing to do with anything we’ve done before. Some features of course resemble [our other shooters], because we want to make the best possible shooter, but in general we’ve tried to do something completely unique.”

So, another thing that Battlefront will not have later this year. With all the things DICE is saying will not be in the game, I’m beginning to wonder what features they will have. You can check out why I’m nervous for Battlefront’s release here. As always, let us know how you feel about the change of formula for Battlefield and whether you think DICE made the right move in the comments below.
