A tweet from Telltale games teased details for their new Minecraft series with a Minecon 2015 logo. This should come as no surprise as a partnership between Mojang and Telltale was revealed in December 2014 and saw fans getting very exited over the prospect of an episodic Minecraft game.

The announcement was “Telltale’s series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.”

Since the announcement of the Minecraft: Story Mode, not a lot has been revealed about the project. With the tease from Telltale this morning, there’s no doubt that they’ve been saving the news for the biggest Minecraft event of the year.

The story mode is a standalone game and not an expansion as some believe. The game will not look exactly like Minecraft but according to Mojang “it will feel authentic in its own special way”

Story mode launches in 2015 for PC, consoles and mobile platforms. The specifics as to which platforms and the exact date of launch is still unconfirmed but we’ll be finding out more at Minecon on July 4th – 5th.
