EA has announced that Alex Morgan will be the cover athlete next to Lionel Messi for Fifa 16 in the United States. Fresh off of winning the Women’s World Cup, Alex Morgan is now a cover athlete for Fifa 16. This is the first time EA is featuring a female athlete on a major sports title’s cover.
Morgan responded to the news by stating it is an “incredible honor” adding “I know people all over the world play this game and I’m really excited that FIFA 16 is putting such an important spotlight on women’s soccer.”
Alex Morgan will not be the only female athlete to grace the cover of Fifa 16. In Canada, Morgan will be replaced with Christine Sinclair and in Australia, by Stephanie Catley.
Fifa 16 is scheduled to release on September 22, 2015 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Fifa 16 will also be the first time female national teams will be playable within the series. For more information check back to Gamespresso.
