Halo Wars 2 has been announced.  The sequel to the 2009 RTS was announced by 343 Industries today, and is being developed by Creative Assembly.

Creative Assembly are best known for their Total War series and are behind the most recent addition to the Alien series of games, Alien Isolation.

Halo Wars was released in 2009 to a fairly positive reception, for a console RTS.  The game was well received by fans, though it proved to be the end for the developers, Ensemble Studios, who suffered lay offs and an eventual shut down after the game’s release.

Only a brief announcement trailer was shown at the event, featuring the reveal of human soldiers being dragged away from a Brute Chieftain, wielding some sort of glowing device.

Details are scarce at the moment but it was announced that the game will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs in fall 2016.
