The first signs of how well Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is doing in terms of sales has been released. The major retail store in Japan, Tsutaya, has provided a chart on sales for the week. The PS4 version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is dominating in its home turf of Japan.

The full list is as follows:

  1. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Limited Edition – PS4
  2. Dragon Quest VIII – 3DS
  3. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Standard Edition – PS4
  4. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Limited Edition – PS3
  5. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Standard Edition – PS3
  6. Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer  – 3DS

The Ps4 version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain dominated even the PS3 version. This is a radical change from when Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes debuted with the PS3 version ahead. The Xbox One version did not crack the Top 20, showing the strides still needed to be made by Microsoft in Japan. On Wednesday the full Japan stats will be released, but so far so good for Hideo Kojima and Konami.
